Tulsa Shoot-Out (Tulsa, OK)

This year, Justin drove two cars in 4 different classes.  With a record 790 cars making up 193 races - 100 heat races, 32 qualifying races,48 B Mains, 5 Last Chance Qualifiers, and 8 Features it was not going to be easy.

There were 141 entries in the Outlaw class.  Justin started 3rd in his heat and finished 2ndlocking him into the top 60 in points.  Then in the qualifier, Justin was working on 3rd when a car spun across the track and collected him tearing up the entire back end – giving him a DNF and a 12th place finish.  Therefore, we had to run the B Main where he started5th and finished 4th.  Only the top 2 transferred but it was a great run.
There were 142 entries in the Non-Wing Outlaw class.  Justin started 7th in his heat and finished there as well due to a steering box problem.  Not locking into the top 60 we went to the B Main where we started 11th and finished 4th knocking us out in this class.

There were 153 entries in A Class.  Justin started 3rd and finished 2nd in his heat locking him into the top 60.  Then in the qualifier, he was running 5th or 6th when two cars tangled in front of him causing him to lose his momentum and fall back therefore putting him in the B Main.  He started 5th and was working on 2nd when another driver tried to put a slide job on him and sent him flipping.  His night was over.

There were 176 entries in A Class Non-Wing.  Justin picked up the heat race win in heat number 3.  Locking into the qualifier he was passing for 4th when he got pushed up over the cushion and into the wall.  He was able to continue but fell back to 9th yet again making him run a B Main. He started 3rd and the pole setter spun coming out of 4 on the start and collected Justin.

While it wasn’t the Shoot-Out we were hoping for, we learned a lot about the new car and raced against the best micro (and some sprint car) racers in the country.

October 29, 2011

US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

What a great night of racing to end the 2011 season.  Justin set fast time in the wing class and was second in non-wing.  Then in the wing class, he won his heat after starting 4th, he finished 2nd in the dash, and he went on to win the wing feature for his 8th micro feature win of the season.  In non-wing - he broke a master link in the heat, so instead of starting in the front row of the feature, he started 14th.  On lap 19, he was already in 3rd.  On a restart, he was put to the tail for passing before the cone.  In the next 11 laps, Justin worked very methodically and managed a second place finish!!  Definitely the best he has ever done rolling the bottom.  Great way to end the season.

October 22, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

WOW!!  Another great night of racing in October.  Gotta love it.  We had 21 non-wing and 12 wing cars tonight.  Justin qualified second in non-wing and set fast time in wing.  He got his time back in both heats and started 5th in the non-wing dash - finishing 2nd.  Then started 4th in the wing dash and finished 2nd.  Therefore, he started 2nd in both features.  Non-wing was out first.  He got the lead on the start and there must have been 10 yellow flags.  Every time he would get some breathing room another one would come out.  In the end, he got booted in turns 1 and 2 with 2 to go.  He managed to get the car back under control and save a 2nd place finish.  Then in wing he took the lead on lap two or three and never looked back.  He drove it all the way to Victory Lane!

October 15, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

2 trips to Victory Lane tonight was an AMAZING night of racing!!!!  There were 21 wing cars and 22 non-wing cars tonight.  Justin qualified 3rd in wing and 2nd in non-wing.  He started 5th in both heats and had to finish in the top 4 to get his time back and run the dash. He finished 2nd in wing and 4th in non-wing.  He finished 3rd in the wing dash and won the non-wing dash.  He went on to win both the wing and non wing features!! Great job by the young driver.

October 8, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

Only running non-wing tonight.  30 cars - we qualified 2nd.  Started 6th in the heat and finished 2nd.  He started 4th in the feature and finished 4th.  Great job but beat by the veterans tonight.

October 7, 2011
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

Only running the wing car tonight.  Started 7th in the feature.  Got sent to the tail for barely touching a car that wrecked in front of him (Justin never went dead on the track).  Came back to a 2nd place finish with only 10 green flag laps of racing.  Rae timed out due to a red flag.  Needed another lap or two.

October 1, 2011
Miami County Speedway (Peru, IL)

Pulling double duty tonight.  32 non-wing cars and 23 wing cars.  Started 15th in the wing feature and finished 5th.  Great run on a rough track.  Finished 2nd in the non-wing heat to start 8th in the feature.  Justin was running 4th working on 3rd when another car and Justin both hit ruts and jumped sideways.  They hit each other and tore up the chain and guards.  Wicked fast racecar that didn't finish the feature.

September 24, 2011
Macon Speedway (Macon, IL)

POWRi race tonight in Macon.  We were off a bit in the heat where we started 8th and finished 6th in a really tough heat.  He had to run the semi where he finished 4th to transfer into the main.  Started 20th in the feature and finished 12th.

September 23, 2011
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

Victory lane for the 5X tonight in the wing car!  Justin won both the heat and the feature!

September 17, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

Happy 13th Birthday Justin!  31 non-wing cars and 14 wings tonight.  Justin qualified 12th in non-wing and 4th in wing.  He went on to win his non-wing heat.  Then in the non-wing feature he got stuck behind some slower cars that wanted to run three wide for 13 laps.  Justin tried to make a move and ended up spinning out.  Can't blame him for trying.  In the wing car, he finished 4th in his heat and 2nd in the dash.  Then in the feature we fell a little short with a second place finish.

September 16, 2011
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

Only running wing tonight.  Qualified second and won his heat.  Finished 2nd in the feature after a late race yellow.  He had the leader set up to pass when the yellow came out.  When they went back to green flag racing he needed a couple more laps.  Good race though.

September 9, 2011
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

Just running the wing car tonight.  30 cars - Justin qualified 10th and finished 4th in his heat.  He did however, drive his way to a 5th place finish after starting 10th in the feature.

Sunday, September 4, 2011
Miami County Speedway (Peru, IN)

The third night of racing and the third different track this weekend.  Justin ran double duty tonight.  The non-wing race was just follow the leader due to a poor racing surface.  Everyone started and ended in about the same spot - no passing possible.  By the time the wing feature came around though, the track had two lanes and eventually to rubber.  Justin did a tremendous job starting 12th and finishing 5th.

Saturday, September 3, 2011
US 24 Speedway, (Logansport, IN)

Saturdays in Logansport seem to be synonymous with rain.  We got both cars out tonight for the Carol Smith Memorial. Justin qualified 5th in wing and got no time in non-wing due to a chain problem.  Not a good way to start with 32 non-wing cars.  However, he was a man on a mission in the heat race.  He stared 9th in his non-wing heat and finished 3rd to lock into the feature.  In the wing heat he took control on the first lap and lead until he hooked a rut coming out of turn 4.  He did a great job saving the car and managed a 2nd place finish to get his time back and start the dash.  The wing dash was on the track as the rains came.  To be completed September 17th.

Friday, September 2, 2011
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

Only ran the wing car tonight.  We didn't get the qualifying run we were looking for, but that didn't stop us.  He started 8th in the feature and drove his way to 2nd.  He went high and low and adjusted on the car all night.  Great recovery!!

Saturday, August 27, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

Great night of non-wing racing in Logansport.  18 non-wing car and Justin set fast time!  He started 5th in the feature and finished third behind two veteran drivers.  He was really up on the wheel this weekend.  Great weekend of non-wing racing in Indiana.

Friday, August 26, 2011
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

Another visit to Victory Lane tonight for Justin.  We only ran non-wing tonight.  The car looked good in qualifying, but wasn't as fast as we would have liked.  He managed a second place finished in his heat and with the invert, he started outside the front row.  Justin had a tremendous start and got the lead.  He lead every lap and won by a quarter track.  Great feature win!!

Saturday, August 20, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

RAINED OUT!!!  This is really getting old.

Saturday, August 13, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

non-wing Midget Clash
We had a really fast race car tonight but experienced a clutch problem during the heat.  Justin managed a 2nd place finish in the heat.  The rest os the night was rained out to be made up on September 10th.

Saturday, August 6, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

A visit to Victory Lane was a great way to start August.18 non-wing cars and 8 wing cars tonight at Logansport.  Our cars were really fast tonight.  Justin qualified 2nd in non-wing but won the heat, the dash, and non-wing the feature.  Justin drove a great race and was able to hold off a late race charge from Nate Lauderbaugh.  Then he set fast time in wing.  He was just a little off in the wing car and finished second in the heat, the dash, and the feature.  What a GREAT night of racing for the Peck Motorsports team.  Inside the top 2 all night!!!!

Friday, July 29, 2011
Morgan County Fair Race (Martinsville, IN)

Driving wing and non-wing tonight trying to back up last years Restricter win.  There were not as many cars this year and the track was really rough.  We finished third in our non-wing heat and then got rained out.  We never even hit the track in the wing car.

Saturday, July 23, 2011
Macon Speedway (Macon, IL)

POWRi sponsored Macon Micro Nationals
There were 60 of the best micro racers from around the country in Illinois this weekend.  Times were posted after hot laps and Justin was 28th quick, so we knew we had some work to do.  Heats were posted and he was to start 7th in the 7th heat.  He did a fantastic job on a rubbered down track and drove home a 4th place finish.  That gave him enough passing / finish points to lock into the feature.  The top 21 in points locked in to the 33 car field.  He started the feature in the 19th position (inside row 7 since they started 11 rows of 3).  Going into the first turn one of the inside cars spun and collected the inside row with him.  Again, Justin never got a full lap in.  Disappointing feature but great to run with solid competition.

Saturday, July 16, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

We have a lot of racing to do tonight because we are making up the Fred Marlow Memorial features from two weeks ago when it was rained out and run an entire new program.

Fred Marlow Memorial Features:
Wing:  Justin was up on the wheel after last nights disappointment.  He started 12th on a rubbered up track and methodically worked his way to a 3rd place finish!
non-wing:  We started 8th and finished 6th.  Car was good just hard to pass when the track takes rubber.

New Weekly Program:
Wing:  Justin qualified 6th of 13 which gave him the 3rd starting spot in his heat where he drove to a heat win pulling away.  That allowed him to get his time back and start 6th in the wing dash where he finished 5th.  Stating 5th in the feature Justin made some adjustments to tighten up his car and ended with a 4th place finish.

non-wing:  Qualified 5th out of 18 cars.  Started and finished 4th in the heat.  Started 5th in the non-wing dash and finished 4th.  On the first lap of the feature, Nate Lauderbaugh hit a tire in turns one and two and collected Justin ending our night.

Friday, July 15, 2011
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

There are some days that you should have just stayed home.  Justin was driving one car in both wing and non-wing tonight.  14 wing cars and 11 non-wing here tonight.  He qualified 5th in wing and 6th in non-wing.  He started 2nd in the wing heat and finished 2nd.  Started 3rd in non-wing heat and finished 2nd.  Made nice improvements to the car as the night went on.  During the wing feature he started 4th and was in third when a yellow came out.  On the restart the car lost power coming to the green.  The fuel pump went bad and he got hit three or four times.  We pulled him into the pits and got the fuel pump changed but didn't have time to look the car over.  When he went out for the non-wing feature the drop link was weak and broke as soon as he hit the gas.  So...... we didn't get to finish either feature.

Saturday, June 18, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

It seems like everyone got rain today except us, so it made for nice cars counts and great competition.  There were 31 non-wing cars and 19 wing cars at Logansport tonight.  Justin went to the top to qualify the non-wing car which looked good, but it just wasn't fast up there tonight.  He qualified 21st and would have his work cut out for him.  He made the wing dash by qualifying 5th, but the battery went dead during the dash, so he would have to settle for a 6th place finish there.  Then onto the non-wing semi where he would start 6th and finish 2nd.  That gave him a 17th starting position in the feature.  He drove a great race in the non-wing car and managed to work his way up to 11th with a beatuiful last lap pass.  He started 6th in the wing feature and did an outstanding job avoiding a late race wreck right in front of him.  With seven laps to go, he lined up second behind Nate Lauderbaugh and gave it all he had.  He had one shot to get under him, but Nate's experience was too much to overcome tonight.  GREAT RACE!!!

Friday, June 17, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Loganspot, IN)

Finally getting back to some dirt racing with two nights of action at US 24.  There were 18 non-wing cars and 12 wing cars tonight as Justin will be pulling double duty getting in as many laps as he can.  Qualifying wasn't really what we ad hoped for as he qualified 8th in both cars.  He started outside the front row in his non-wing heat and won it.  Then won his wing heat from the pole.  So it was 2 for 2 in the heats tonight!!  He started 8th in the non-wing feature and finished 6th.  He had a great run going on the top when a car stalled in front of him allowing a car to pass him and get a straightaway lead.  Then in the wing feature, we started 8th againand finished 6th.  The wing car just wasn't really there tonight.

Friday, June 10, 2011
Mt. Lawn Speedway (New Castle, IN)

It was the night of 4's for Justin today.  He qualified fourth, finished fourth in his heat, and finished fourth in the feature.  He did a nice job holding onto a very loose race car.  He is going to make a driving adjustment for next time and dad is going to make a set up adjustment, so the 28 car will be better when we return to Mt. Lawn.

Friday, June 3, 2011
Anderson Speedway (Anderson, IN)

Only 8 cars today.  Justin qualified fast time with a 12.96 second lap.  He had to start 6th in the heat race and only the top 4 got their time back, so he worked to achieve that goal and succeeded with a 4th place finish.  Then the decision was made to invert 6 in the feature again, so he lined up 6th, got into an altercation with another car, sent to he tail, and started charging back through the field.  He misjudged a car and jumped their tire and only ended up with a 6th place finish after.  Very fast race car tonight and still able to add a couple to the points lead.

Saturday, May 21, 2011
US 24 Speedway (Logansport Speedway)

Justin just ran the non-wing car tonight.  The track really didn't have a top side after the rain and Justin tried to qualify there, so he ended up 12 of 16.  Came back in the heat though and ran strong with a loose car.  He started 6th and ran a consistent race to finish 3rd.  That gave him the 8th starting spot for the feature.  After almost getting put in the wall on the start and falling back to 14th, he kept his composure and started picking them off one at a time.  After a great battle with Billy Cribbs, Justin finished 6th.

Friday, May 20, 2011
Mt. Lawn Speedway (New Castle, IN)

USSA instituted a new format tonight.  Instead of a 40 lap feature, we had 2 twenty lap segments and accrued points during both to determine the winner.  In the first segment, Justin started on the outside of he front row.  He got the lead on the start and led every lap to take home the victory.  Then in the second segment, he started 4th and came out second on the start.  After several bumps in turn three, Chappel finally got around and Justin ended up third.  After the points were tallied, Justin was determined the feature winner for the night!!

Friday, April 29, 2011
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

Justin pulled double duty tonight.  He qualified 2nd in non-wing and 6th in wing.  Justin started on the pole of the non-wing heat and won the heat.  Started on the outside of the front row in the wing heat and finished 2nd.  Set to start second in the non-wing feature and 6th in the wing feature.  During the non-wing feature, Justin pulled off with motor trouble

April 23, 2011
Logansport, IN  (US 24 Speedway)

It has been a month of rain and everyone is ready to race.  The track was really rough, but the Wood family reworked it several times to try to give the drivers the best they could.  Justin was pulling double duty again in both wing and non-wing.  We had 12 wing cars and 20 non-wing.  He qualified 4th in wing but inherited 2nd when two other drivers didn't back up their times in their heat.  He started outside the front row in the wing heat and ended up third with a car that pushed something terrible.  That set him up to start 3rd in the dash where he finished 3rd.  That gave him the 3rd starting spot in the feature where he eventually won the feature!!!  In non-wing, he qualified 5th.  He also finished 3rd in the non-wing heat.  After starting 5th in the non-wing dash and working his way to 4th, he got together with another car and didn't finish the race due to a flat tire.  In the non-wing feature he was doing a great job on a rough track but went to the outside to try to get around some cars an when he hit a rut it kicked the car sideways and stalled the motor.  To the tail he went.  When all was said and done, he wound up 10th.  He will be sore from all the bouncing around for a few days.

April 8, 2011
Linton, IN  (Bakerfield Speedway)

No qualifying tonight due to all the beginning of the year paperwork and threat of rain.  Justin was pulling double duty driving both wing and non-wing.  He finished third in both heat races.  He started 6th in the non-wing feature and quickly moved into 2nd doing battle with Colton Cottle.  Good clean race with lots of excitement.  Colton got the checkers and Justin had to settle for second.  In the wing race, Justin was passing for third and got squeezed into a tire which ended his night.

April 3, 2011
Anderson, IN  (Anderson Speedway)

The first race of the 2011 USSA Kenyon Midget season.  We had an 8 car field.  Justin won his heat!!  Unfortunately though that put him on the pole of the feature.  The track as a one lane outside grove track and those on the inside were sitting ducks.  He managed to come out 3rd on the start and was in a great battle when he was spun in three from behind.  With about half the race left to battle, he managed to work his way back up to 4th.

March 26, 2011
DuQuoin, IL  (Powri - 1st points race)

Justin, Joe B. Miller, and Matt Johnson made a great heat race battling from start to finish.  In the end, Justin ended up third.  During the B Main Justin started in the back and came out 13th on the start after getting blasted in the rear.  He worked his way up to 8th and was collected in a pile-up on a restart sending us to the tail with less than 10 laps to go.  Unfortunately, the feature was out of reach for tonight.

January 29, 2011
DuQuoin, IL  (Powri - non points race)

Southern Illinois Mini-Magic Mile and 60+ micros for a season star studded season opener.  Justin 3rd in the heat.  Then he transferred out of a staked qualifier featuring AJ Hopkins, Derrick King, Nick Knepper and many others to put it in the show at his first ever Powri event.  He started 23rd in the feature.  Running a great race, Justin worked his way to 13th on the outside.  As he caught 10th-12th two cars got together and Justin was collected in the wreck which ended his top ten hopes.

2010
November 7, 2010
Lumiere du Corp Resort, LLC (Lebanon, IN)

We attended the 2010 USSA (United States Speed Association) banquet this evening and Justin was named the 2010 Simpson Rookie Performance Award Winner!!!  What a great honor for a young driver.  The banquet was really nice and the facility was great.

October 30, 2010
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

Justin decided to pull double duty again this evening.  There were 14 wing cars.  Justin qualified 7th, but after winning his heat, he made it into the dash due to someone else's misfortune.  We started 5th in the dash and ended up finishing 4th which is where he started the feature.  He dove to a 3rd place finish for the last wing race of the year.

non-wing saw 23 cars where he qualified 2nd fast.  He finished 3rd in his heat which allowed him to run the dash where he finished 2nd.  After starting 2nd in the feature he would have to settle for a 6th place finish.  He drove a great race but is going to have to be more aggressive with the more experienced drivers.  Now it's time to get ready for Tulsa!!

October 23, 2010
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

Pulling double duty tonight.  He is trying wing for the first time and sticking with the non-wing - even after last nights flip.  There are  21 non-wing cars and 13 wings here.  Justin qualified 2nd in non-wing and 6th in wing.  Not back for a first attempt.  He lined up 6th in the wing heat and finished 3rd, so he will start 6th in the wing dash.  In non-wing - he lined up 4th in the heat and finished 2nd, so he should line up 3rd in the dash.  In the wing dash, we missed the set up a little bit and he finished 6th, so he will start 6th in the feature.  In the non-wing dash - a rock pushed in the side panel an it jammed the gas peddle, so he had to shut it down and take a 6th place finish.  Again starting 6th in the feature.  The wing feature was AWESOME.  He ended up 4th and simply got beat by big motors (he had a stock motor in).  He was up on the wheel and drove a smooth, consistent race.  The nonwig feature was one of the best in his career.  He was contending for 2nd when a caution came out with 4 laps to go.  He lined up 3rd on the restart and his rig rear tire didn't refire so he ended up 6th.  The finish really doesn't do his race justice.  He was aggressive, smooth, and took exactly what the car gave him.  GREAT RACE!!

October 22, 2010
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

13 non-wing tonight at Linton.  Car looked good in qualifying, but it wasn't very fast.  Qualified 8th.  Started 4th in his heat and finished 3rd, so he will start 6th in the feature.  Got a slide job put on him that sent him flipping end over end.  When the car finally came to a rest he had gone over 3 or 4 times.  He is OK but done for the night.

October 16, 2010
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

20 non-wing cars tonight.  Qualified 3rd.  Trouble in the dash left him with a 5th place finish, so he didn't get his time back for the dash.  Started 16th in the feature and never even took the green.  Master link broke on the chain.

October 15, 2010
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

Running non-wing tonight in the new car.  Justin hit the cushion a little too hard in qualifying and qualified 6th.  He finished 4th in his heat, so he has to start 10th in the feature.  Just not his night.  Finished 9th in the feature.

October 9, 2010
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

We had 15 non-wing cars for a very warm October night of racing.  Justin set fast time, started 3rd in his heat and won it on the top side.  With a 6 drawn for the invert, he started 6th in the dash and drove his way to a 3rd place finish for his feature starting position.  He got to the top quickly in the feature and made a beautiful pass to get into second place.  As he ran the leader down, a late race caution came out.  With only 6 laps to go, we would have to settle for a second place finish.  He drove a great race.

October 2, 2010
Miami County Speedway (Peru, IN)

It was a very cold night for the Outlaw Challenge. There were 29 non-wings viaing for the 20 starting positions and no qualifying. Justin started 6th in his heat race and finished 5th, but only the top 4 transferred to the feature, so we had to run the B-Main. He started 3rd after they redid the track, the top was the place to be. He got stuck behind a car and was unable to get to the top to get around him before being taken out of a transfer position. He finifhed the B-Main in 6th and had to watch the feature. It was a tough night, but a good learning experience.

October 1, 2010
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

We were supposed to run non-wing tonight, but we never even got to take the track due to an engine problem.

September 25, 2010
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

Another cool fall evening and a great night of racing.  There were 19 non-wings at Logansport Saturday night.  Justin qualified 7th and won his heat.  Due to someone else's misfortune he made the dash and with a 6 drawn for the pill, he got to start on the pole.  He raced his way to a DASH win.  That put us on the pole of the feature as well.  He ended up 4th in the feature, but you can't be too upset at this point getting beat bt Nate Lauderbaugh, Blane Culp, and Stephanie Mockler.  Great race!!

September 24, 2010
Bakersfield Raceway Park (Linton, IN)

This night was too good to be true.  We had 16 cars for our first non-wing experience at Linton.  Justin looked good qualifying and posted fast time.  Then he managed to hold on to a win in the heat.  As they lined up for the feature, he said he was going to the cushion and it brougt him his first non-wing victory!!!!

September 17, 2010
Justin turns 12!!  We are taking the weekend off and enjoying some relaxation in the mountains of West Virginia.

August 28, 2010
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

Justin decided to do double duty - non-wing and restrictor. For the first night, there were highs and lows. The biggest high was making the dash in both cars. He drove his new car in the restrictor class where we fought the car most of the night. We qualified 2nd of 15, came home third in the heat, finished second in the dash and second again in the feature. In non-wing, we qualified 6th of 23, he finished 4th in his heat, fifth in the dash, and was scored as a DNF in the feature after the car developed a shake and he took it to the infield.

August 27, 2010
Illiana Speedway (Shererville, IN)

The last time we were here, Justin finished second, so he was out for revenge and he got it. He started 4th in the heat and only made his way up to 3rd. With a 4 drawn for the invert, Justin lined up in the two hole for the feature. He got a good jump on the start and led all 40 laps to capture his second FEATURE WIN in the Kenyon midget series.

August 22, 2010
Woodland Bowl (Indianapolis, IN)

Justin took part in a "Celebrity" Bowling Fundraiser today. He got to meet and interact with several people in the local media and former PGA Bowler Mike Aulby as well as IRL driver Ed Carpenter. Justin's Kenyon Midget was on display most of the day at 96th Street Steakburger where people could climb inside and take pictures, get autographs, and just talk racing.

August 21, 2010
US 24 Speedway (Logansport, IN)

Justin wanted to take the wings off and go non-wing racing, so that what we did. There were 25 non-wing cars. We missed the set up on a very rough track and qualified 18th. After qualifying the track crew went to work and made the track much better. Justin started 6th in his loaded heat race and finished 7th. That put us in the B-Main where we started 5th and worked his way up to 3rd with a much better handling car. The top side was where you had to be in the feature. Justin lined up 16th on the start and made his way inside the top 10 before brushing the wall with three to go. He finished a hard fought 12th.

August 20, 2010
Anderson Speedway (Anderson, IN)

Justin's favorite Kenyon track was back on slate for Friday night racing. Justin lined up 6th for the heat and only managed a 5th place finish. That put him 5th for the start of the feature where he was a man on a mission. He was very patient as he worked his way through the field. At one point, we tried three times to get a single file restart. On the third attempt, Justin went to the outside and passed the second place car. Three laps later, the leader spun coming out of turn two and Justin took over the lead. However, under the yellow, the track officials informed him that he was being penalized one position for "jumping the start." With only 8 laps to go - Justin would have to settle for a second place finish.

August 14, 2010
Grundy County Speedway (Morris, IL)

We started the night with a wire connection problem and ended up qualifying in the back of the field.  We started the heat race on the outside of the front row and finished second with a really tight race car.  For the feature, we again lined up in the two hole and he shot out to take the lead on an outside pass.  A few laps later, the car pushed up and as Justin got out of the gas, he got hit from behind and spun around.  He got hit again and towed out the front end.  We went to the tail and ended up 3rd in the feature.

There were only 8 restrictors tonight and due to a spark plug problem, we qualified 7th.  Justin had to start 7th in the heat of 8 and worked his way up to a 4th place finish.  The feature invert was a 5, so that put us on the outside of the front row.  Justin got the lead on the start and lead every lap to pick up the feature win!!

Tulsa Shoot-Out  (Tulsa, OK)

The Tulsa Shoot-Out saw a record car count this year with 584 Micros in attendance.  The Restrictor class was filled with lots of young talent and brought in 85 cars.  After finishing 3rd in his heat, Justin started 4th in his B Main.  He had to finish in the top 3 to transfer to the A Qualifier and he did just that.  He started 17th out of 18 in the qualifier where he had to finish in the top 8 to transfer to the A Main.  At the end of the 15 lap qualifier, Justin found himself in 8th place and on his way to the Feature.  He would line up 24th in the 24 car field.  17 laps into the 20 lap feature, Justin was making a big run on the cushion where he was running around 10th trying to pass a group of cars.  Unfortunately, with three laps to go a car slid up the track and spun in front of him and he got collected in the wreck.  Although Justin and the car were fine, he had to go to the tail for going dead on the track.  He ended up finishing 17th.  This was an awesome experience and we can't wait to go back next year.

The final race was OK, but did not lend itself to a victory.  We finished 3rd in Lt Mod, 2nd in Lt B, and 2nd in Lt AA.  Our Lt AA was definately the fastest on the track, but he got hit 3 times.  We brought him in once to try to straighten the front end out.  He went right back through the pack, but ran out of laps to get around the leader.  He was all over him though.  Good race.
